When a company proposes to pay dividends in an audited result, it only needs to be ratified by the shareholders. So, unless Fidson shareholders block the payment, they should still go ahead and pay.

Actually thought the poster was referring to a "proposed" 20k for FYE June 2009 which had not yet been officially declared by the company when the post was made; looking at the original post again, it looks like he was referring to the 20k dividend declared for FYE June 2008.

Does that mean that dividend payments for 2009 have not been made yet? If thats the case then December 2009 may be their payment date going by historical antecedent. With a current EPS of 0.24 and P/E of 8.23 there should be something in the pot for punters this Year ending. Though it was on Net Offer today what would be an appropriate price to enter the stock before the bandwagon pumps it up again?

Based on Q-3 results, the projected EPS is 32k. Let's suppose they make it to 40k by year end, then maybe they can pay 20k dividend. At the current price of N2, this is not bad.

Sorry, I since corrected myself. I was looking at the current EPS and not the projected one.

But, how come you have 24k? I also have 1.5B shares and PAT for Q-3 was N369m so I'm projecting N490m FY PAT. What do you have?

We have the same thing. The 24k I mentioned was just assuming zero profit for Q4 and using Q3 as the projected full year profit.

The question was about taking a speculative punt on Fidson, which I assumed to be short term. Fidson is currently selling at N2 after a bull run from N1.30 year low, making it about 54% gain over the past one month. There were huge volumes traded when it was selling at the year low, relative to the average daily volumes. If those who bought decide to start taking profits, it will be a disaster to anyone who buys now.

The daily price has fallen below the 10 day moving average, which means that the trend is bearish. This is also coupled with the fact that the RSI is in an overbought position already. The signal line in the MACD has also cut the lagging indicator from above, which another bearish sginal.

In summary, all the signals are in a bearish mode and the only thing that can trigger another bullish run is if some good news come from the company or there is some insider information somewhere.

A dividend of 0.22k is not bad at all. It should be one of the highest dividend yields currently around.
