FACTS CHECK:
Chams Plc sought to raise N5.0 billion by way of Placement and offered 2.0 billion Ordinary Shares of 50 Kobo each at N2.50 Kobo per share. Application list opened January 07, 2008 and closed February 13, 2008. Lead Issuing House/Arranger to the Placement was UBA Global Markets Limited. Return of excess funds on the Placement Immediately we returned the bulk of it; well in excess of N5.0 billion to investors. Even then, we had more than N2.0 billion by investors that we thought we couldn’t reject, we now had to go through the whole process of having a special Placement we just concluded about a month ago. We had 975 million units of shares offered by way of Placement at N2.50 Kobo and it gave us well over N2.0 billion. Chams Plc and expansion programme Right now we have started strategic discussions for strategic relationships with some African countries. For now we cannot make public disclosure because all the deals are yet to be concluded. Indeed we have commenced discussions and have actually gone far in establishing strategic relationships with international companies in Africa. Innovative technology and better lives for Nigerians We invest heavily in research and development and I must say that is one of the secrets of the success of Chams Plc. We are not just interested in making money for the fun of it, we want to glorify God in making money, and we desire to serve humanity like I said earlier. Therefore, what we do is to study a particular segment of the Nigerian Society, identify the problems compared to global standards, we provide our own solutions and services. The current trends now in Chams Plc are results of expensive research and development efforts that the company has done over the years. Chams Plc and choice of listing time We are not bothered by the time of our listing in the market. We know we are on solid grounds; all that is necessary in terms of feasibility study, we ensure compliance and whenever we come out we are sure of success; due to the fact that we are solving problems in Nigeria. EDITORS NOTE: Chams Plc in Lagos Nigeria listed 4,620,600,000 Ordinary Shares of 50 Kobo each at N2.50 Kobo per share. In its financial forecast in the Placement Memorandum, the company had projected Earnings per Share (EPS) to be 67 Kobo, N1.09 Kobo and N2.39 Kobo for years 2008, 2009 and 2010 respectively. In the Managing Directors statement at the Stock Exchange Chams Plc has projected Profit after Tax (PAT) of N2.5 billion, N4.05 billion and N8.9 billion for years 2008, 2009 and 2010 respectively. While a 25, 45 and 65 Kobo dividend has been projected for years 2008, 2009 and 2010 respectively. However, it would be noted that the projected PAT was not contained in the Placement Memorandum. Chams Plc and projected 65 Kobo dividend in year 2010 The projections which we have come up with were as a result of making use of one of the leading Management Consulting outfits in this country and we are confidence we would make it. Chams Plc and proposed mobile phone for Nigerians We are hoping within the next six months, we would unveil it. Most of the Global Mobile Service (GSM) currently available; contains features of facilities which Nigerians rarely use and there are certain applications which are peculiar to Nigerians. We have gone out to invest on this for our own GSM system which we would be bringing to the Nigerian public. With this development, we would be solving peculiar Nigerian problems; we want to tell you that Nigerian languages maybe involved in it. Future outlook We are now going international, very soon Chams Plc would be amongst the first top 10 companies on the Floors of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).

I believe that Chams got listed on the floor less than one year ago. There is a policy that not company can float an IPO until one year after listing. So for that rumor, I will advice you not to hold your breath for it.

Chams unveils three new subsidiaries
By Jonah Iboma Published: Tuesday, 7 Oct 2008 Chams Nigeria Plc has set up three additional firms as part of its expansion plans to become a leading information and communications technology group in the country. The three new subsidiaries are Chams Switch, Chams City and Chams Mobile. The firm explained in details made available to our correspondent on Monday, that Chams Switch would be focus on electronic commerce and would handle transactional and identification switching. Chams City, the firm added, would provide large scale facilities that could be used for data collection and processing, such as national identity card registration, human resource development and international computer-based examination centres. The firm explained further that Chams Mobile would play in the mobile telephony sector and would work towards local manufacture of mobile phones. According to the Group Managing Director, Chams Plc. Mr. Demola Aladekomo, the three new firms were set up to take advantage of identified opportunities in the Nigerian economy. He added that the mobile subsidiary would ensure that phones were made in such a way that they would contain local features that meet the needs of the Nigerian environment. The firm further said Chams City was currently building centres across the country, including the Lagos centre, which had over 1,000 computers and reputed to be the biggest cyber café in the world. The Lagos centre hosted the finals of the Nigerian leg of the World Cyber Games 2008 on Saturday. Already Chams has begun nationwide deployment of Automatic Teller Machines and the exercise is expected to cover all the 774 local governments in the country before the end of next year. In all, about 1,000 ATMs are to be deployed in the country and they are expected to run on a platform to be provided by Chams Switch. Chams and the National Information Technology Development Agency, earlier in the year, signed a major agreement towards the effective implementation of the Millennium Development Framework for Mobile Internet and Outsourcing Solutions. The exclusive deployment of ATMs in the 774 local governments was part of the agreement Aladekomo stated that Chams was determined to become a Nigerian IT firm making its mark in the global community. He added that this informed the reason why the firm was recently listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, adding that soon, it would become an employer of choice in the country. Besides the three firms, other subsidiaries of Chams include Supercard, Paymaster and Card Centre Limited.
