As someone who sell recharge cards for survival, and I know how keen competition is in this sector; voice or data. Inefficent operators lacking capacity and capital for growth or expansion will be swallowed.

starcomm will likely go to the park, except we see a "miraculous" result soon. The jury is out on starcomms already.

Oga Oracle, yes you are correct. SMN is about the second most visited website in Nigeria. It is not a dating website and yet draws quite a lot of traffic. In other words, anyone visiting the website has at least an interest in the NSE. This implies that whatever that is being discussed here will surely impact on the prices in the market. Just my observation!

Reference to the part in bold. This will be true for relatively illiquid stocks with low market capitalization.

Yes. Noticed this trend. It started off with journalists both implicitly and explicitly looking for content for articles. It wouldnt surprise me that instead of doing any concrete analysis themselves, many brokers simply monitor this site, especially during trading hours now that they have been extended.

As you know, a broker with direct access to trade execution has a distinct advantage over any standard SMN user.

Starcomm? I can not second this one bcos buyers will be exposed to speculation attack. I will rather build a 5-stock portfolio with eternaloil, sterlingbank, bergerpaint, presco, firstba nk for a 5 months holding period with 40% growth target. Start counting down from today.

Oga Baotoghile. I like your recommendation. But I have problem with Presco. It looks, TA wise, more of "channeling" stock, with a support level at about N5.20 and a resistance level of about N8.50. If one agrees with this then, at current price of N7.10, it may not be time to buy. Unless if you have any reason to believe the resistance level will be broken this year.

I also have problem with liquidity. The 200 day RA for volume is only around 100,000.

@ Jacobian. That is not accurate.
SMN is ranked 1,264 amongst most visited sites in Nigeria and 264,130 globally.
Not bad, by the way.
If you strip away the non-Nigerian sites, it will definitely jump up but not to 2nd position.

For perspective, Bloomberg is ranked 458 globally and 404 in Nigeria - meaning that more Nigerians visit Bloomberg - Business & Financial News, Breaking News Headlines than the rest of the world on average.

Top Ranked Nigerian Websites
1. Nairaland
2. Vanguard
3. Punch
4. Nigerian Best Forum
5. GTBank
6. 234Next
7. Sun News Online
8. Nigerian Tribune
9. The Nation
10. Sahara Reporters

Sorry its wanajo that could have bought.

You should take over as INEC boss. Then I can contest as a governor. When I take over as governor my state will start competing with Japan and Korea in productivity. I see people moving en-mass there (from overseas and within Nigeria) into my state during my tenure for greeer pastures with me as governor.

Here I go again buying on impulse. With the comments so far price should go further down. Since I can only afford a portion of my target accumulation I will buy for the rest of the journey to 50k with bet money. Why go to Vegas when you can bet on NSE and get the same trills. ?

This is a no go area for me. Even their recent massive advert on the media cannot sway me. I do not see how they are going to compete with the likes of Glo, MTN and Etisalat. Glo just dropped the price of their modem to 5k and they have many flexible usage options. I have been looking at buying a modem since but was put off Starcomms when my boss told me that the renewal he did last year has not been reflected which has made the service to be cut-off and several calls to them has not yielded anything. With the coming of Main One and Glo-1, i do not see how these company can compete in the data segment. The youths are moving to Black Berry and 'Easy Cliq'. BB rates are dropping fast.

Not bad, by the way.
If you strip away the non-Nigerian sites, it will definitely jump up but not to 2nd position.

For perspective, Bloomberg is ranked 458 globally and 404 in Nigeria - meaning that more Nigerians visit Bloomberg - Business & Financial News, Breaking News Headlines than the rest of the world on average.

Top Ranked Nigerian Websites
1. Nairaland
2. Vanguard
3. Punch
4. Nigerian Best Forum
5. GTBank
6. 234Next
7. Sun News Online
8. Nigerian Tribune
9. The Nation
10. Sahara Reporters

Toby, thanks again for the data. When you strip out the daily newspapers, you will be nearer to Jacobian.
