First of all, I will like thank both respected Honourable Waan5 and Twentypercent for being magnanimous to apologise. However, the reason for thier anger can be found in this quote below:

Not because we do not share some of his sentiments, but that like wanaj0 pointed, that is not what you discuss on the pages of newspaper! It speaks volumes as to whether the guy really understand the true dimensions of his current job as the chief national economist/cheerleader......

..... but until the cbn sees their work as not only 'risk managing', but helping to grow the whole economy, I do not see much prospects for optimism.
We all know that the NSE is just recovering. Most influential people have been trying to help this recovery. Unexpectedly, a person of that level (CBN Governor) makes a blank statement. Why not wait for his eight week review period to be over? I foresee his statement haunting the market for the next eight (8) weeks.

True, but I wish it is that simple.

Reminds me of my cousin who took anti-depressants/treatment to manage his insanity. Now the wife was in the habit of inflaming this guy from time to time. When I advised the wife to help by restraining her tongue a little bit. She told me that it provides her a breating space. The logic is the guy goes away for treatment and then returns saner. As I write, the guy is now completely mad as the situation kept degenerating ... and the wife is living in self pity.

Moral of the story is that if investors confidence continue to be progressively eroded each time, we may end up with a very contracted market with little or no opportunities and a severely distorted economy.

Well said... However, true confidence only comes with knowledge/disclosure. 'Confidence' based on false assumptions is can be fatal.

No contest. But it all boils down to communication strategy ... i.e its style, purpose and intent.

The CBN gov made a sweeping statement and some investors decided to react negatively by selling everything off, well its their choice. Now if I decide to buy it off them and let the risk be transfered to me, its my business. Investing is a risky business and we should look beyond Sanusi into the future.

The new governor will preside over his first Monetary Policy Committee meeting on July 7th as announced on CBN website. This meeting will give us some idea about his policy thrust.
