Default New Phase of Petroleum Sector

What is really happening?
  1. AP Plc and Chevron Nigeria Plc to merge???? (Still a rumour or fact?)
  2. Major announcement - "Please be informed that OANDO has, subject to the fulfilment or waiver of the conditions precedent set out, entered into an agreement to acquire Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd's entire 49.81% interest in the production sharing contracts and joint operating agreement respectively in respect of offshore Nigeria Oil Mining Licence and OML (134)"
Based on the above, trading in the petroleum sector has appreciated like crazy. Are the foreign oil companies reacting to the difficulties operating in the Niger delta? As a house, we really need to analyse this and look at the effect on:

a. Our investment strategies.
b. What are the other Oil companies (Listed and Unlisted, Minors and Majors, Local and Foreign) planning?
c. The future of Oil sector in Nigeria - Oil generates >90% of Nigeria's revenue. Is this a good or bad development???

Your comments please.
