Th IPO came out at N2.20 sometime in feb 2005 - if i remember right. Publicity was quite low, maybe because of the funds at their disposal, and it was undersubscribed but rose a teeny-weeny bit higher before beginning to slide. It settled and struggled for a while around N1.80 or so before nosediving to around N1.11 - i believe that was after the dividend and bonus share which they havent given us anyway - where it remained for quite a while. Sometime in december last year, it finally fell to its all-time low of 90k. Throughout this time, the company was silent.

Default When The Hybrid Offer Will Commence?

I would be very grateful if some one will kindly furnish me with actual date that this offer will take up and close.

In order to prepare for it.

Question Japaul Oil PO: Would you buy, and why?

Hello folks,

Let's all bring our thoughts together once more, and discuss the Japaul oil public offer.

At N3.95, will you buy? If yes, what fundamentals and/or speculations could be driving your decision to buy?

Over to y'all.

Decision will be made when the prospectus is out. Suprised how people make BUY decisions without seeing any information apart from price nad name of stock!

Does anyone know how many N3.50 shares existing shareholders are entitled to in the rights issue? The japaul website only has the public offer form for N3.95 per share.

Again, will you buy Japaul PO?

If yes, can we know exactly what factors may be driving your decision to buy.

@Taipan
Thanks for the share price history. Since you have been familiar with the stock do you think
a) the share price was deliberately pumped up prior to the announcement of the offer,
b) is the PO likely to be fully subscribed,
c) is there any wisdom in buying the stock at the secondary market in anticipation of post PO scarcity?

japauloil got lot of things going for them
they move from 98kobo to N7 in 6moth before staying at N6.
they enjoy monopoly as the only indigenous company in their sector, so i have no doubt in my mind that it will be adequately subscribe.

the only issue is, buying on the floor or thru the PO, which is best?
now lets take dunlop as example, the market price was N4.7, the PO price was N2.5, a juicy discount so to say, shortly after the tech suspension was lifted, the people tha had it before hold on to their shares, causing scarcity and the price hit N9!!!!!!!!1, tHEn they started selling, now the price is aroundN3.5, they have taking all the profit, the people that bought PO are yet to get started.
The thing is even if it is for one month, their will be scarcity and people will cash in seriously.
WELL, I BELIEVE, short term, buy on the floor cause the price will rise sharply after the suspension is lifted, for mid to long term, buy the po.

I will buy Japaul any day. This is a company that enjoy monopoly of its sector without any real competitor. It has been improving its PAT on an annual basis and now, it plan to expand his business front to reposition the company to doing more business. Do you read the interview of the MD/CEO of Japaul? I bought this stock sometimes last year for 1.07 and I can tell you that I have been blaming myself for not buying more that what I bought. To me personally, I see the price as a good one as my calculation and target price before the annoucement was made was N4.20. I am expecting to make good cash from this stock base on my holdings and I need to strenghten my holdings to really take position for the future as I have a target to make a million Naira from the stock this year.

Default Visit Japaul website

I downloaded the form from Japaul website. You can do so too. But there are a few blanks in the form. I am not sure whether this is the final version they will use. The website is: Japaul Oil and Maritime Services Plc.
Good luck!

i agree wit Yusuf on hhis reasons for buying.

i will also buy cos the smae reasons... more so the rights are going to be priced at N2.50, so why shouldnt i buy at such a huge discount?

Japaul is a monopoly and it will be wise to ride on the back of this monopoly.

It is not enough to say that you will buy Japaul any time any day because of the aforemention points.

I know that if it were to be a secondary market, those point could have been more sufficient, but in the case of a PO, the prospectus, not their past success can speak for them. I think the Japaul's provision on the prospectus is more reasonably considerable for investors not their past successes.

It is in this prospectus that both the company and the prospective investors reach a consensus. So I feel the issue is , what do we expect from Japaul.
However, I am not undermining the influece that can be achieved from the past record.
