L&G,
It is criminal for anyone (talk lessa corporate org) to issue a dud cheque.
It can only happen in Nigeria and people stride on in disregard.
I tot tere is a law that sanctions issueamce of dud cheques, i think we need to start chasing these institutions with legal weapons. In developed countries, this is food on the table for the taking, the public will make a meal of the company immediatly. I bought this PO and have recieved my rtn monies & certs through my broker, I have also recievd my PP certs thru post.
Please all, let us hammer these companies hard for better performance.
With the followesrhip of this forum, we are a power block and can institute a class action suit against the registrar, there must be a lawyer amongst us here, I challange any lawyer here to please help start procedings on this matter. I am utterly disgusted, reading this thread. Pls lets do something. We can pool funds together to do this.
Commets pls!!!!!

AB.

Don't have the time right away. Will continue checking my mail box as I got the pp cert and returned money via my mail box in one envelope. Will also call my broker to check if it was mailed to them. If I still do not see the certificate b/4 month end then I will have to reach for the yeye registrar who seem to have dispatched everthing any how.

Japaul looks to new investments for improved returns
02 September, 2008 02:00:00 Anonymous

The directors of Japaul Oil and Maritime plc weekend disclosed that recent acquisition of ten additional seven offshore support vessels with a capacity of generating the sum of N14 million daily would add to the earning capacity of the company.
The vessels are specialized equipment used in supporting activities for the production of crude oil at sea. Officials of the company disclosed that the vessels would be deployed to various contracts after the statutory required registration with Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

The managing director, Paul Jegede said that the company is currently executing some dredging contracts worth more than $120 million from the oil majors such as Shell, Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) among others.

He said "we knew that we would be getting contracts even before we raised money from the market and we know that a dredger is not what you pick offshelve, so we borrowed money from banks ahead of time. The last dredgers are being cleared from the customs, we can surely execute the contracts in record time".

He was of the view that improved earnings would ensure that shareholders are better rewarded adding that the board was committed to capturing the opportunities that abound in the sector in which the company operates.

‘We expect to build our income from businesses which would be generated by other equipment such as anchor handling vessels of different sizes, offshore supply vessels, offshore barge with 150 tons crane, a helipad and accommodation facilities for 250 persons on board", he said.

The chief executive stated that the vessels are specialized ones used in supporting activities for the production of crude oil at the sea with capacity to generate N14 million per day thereby increasing the income capacity of the company.

Jegede said that the total money raised from the public was N24 billion and about N4 billion had been returned..

Japaul shares closed Monday at N5.13 as investors exchanged a total of 11.825 million shares in 148 deals.

The company’s half year result just released to the Nigerian Stock Exchange showed that turnover for the period to June 30, 2008 stood at N1.5 billion as against N1.0 billion in 2007 while its profit after tax grew to N468.5 million from N183.6 million in 2007

I hope Sterling Registrar knows that they are done in principle in there handling of JPoil IPO? I will NEVER touch anything that have to do with Sterling, be it banking etc. This is unacceptable almost one year of offer, we are still having issues and heavy regrets.

Japaul shouldn't cause heavy regrets as it is ahead of the all share index returns for the last 1 year. Access and a couple of bank PO's rather could cause regrets. Access is causing me regrets now as they are still holding tight to my returned money 4 weeks after I visited their bank to report no receipt of returned money. Plus the share price is below PO price at this moment. They have wasted my time and money making me go up and down for return money 1 year after PO.

Bros, you are lucky you 've been able to lay your complaint of non receipt of return money. I have not even gotten my cert share allotment, not to talk about return money To worsen it all, they are not accepting a notarized form that I sent via mny brokers since am not within naija.

You are on point bros. However, I no be lawyer! If I may ask again like Abinishio- does it mean there is no lawyer in this forum? Atleast we can get his view on this.

We must accept what we are seing, because what already seen is better than what not seen yet.

For those talking about lawyer, lawyer is ok, based on what you think that will be a better way of aproach. I bet you that once lawyer comes in into this matter, you will learn that what you think to be the better way of aproach is neither it. All because there are many ways to kill a rat.

I think the better way to all these public trades is to buy little in order to be safe from the companys anger when demand overcomes suply. After the offer, one can now go to the floor and make up with the number of unit intrested in. This is the method I descided for myself the first time I visited this forumn and get myself ready from peoples mistakes. Since then, it had been working for me.

I stand to be corrected if wrong is found.

Despi.

Well your advise is not bad given that it is in Nigeria. In a developed country, you don't wanna get your dirty linen spread in public eyes via court action. Is highly dreaded by corporate body's. Having said that bros, weather buying small unit or not, am done with IPO and PP once and forall. If you see me requesting for once, shread my application ooo
