There has got to be an error somewhere; 5.26% is not possible. It is likely that the previous close is not accurate.

Same here, checked with zenith securities pricelist. Noticed that FSDH also made an error on their pricelist, mobil oil price as at Fri Jun 20 was listed at N196.87 (same as the previous day)

U cannot buy Shell because it is not traded on the floors of the Nigerian stock exchange. The Chervon and Mobil being traded is the downstream business (petroleum marketing only), the upstream business (exploration and production) is a separate business and not traded on NSE.

Generally, u cannot buy shares directly from the company unlike in other countries.

I think one of the solutions to the shallowness of the NSE is for govt to regulate that the upstream operators list on the NSE. I do not know why they do not as doing so will enable more nigerians to benefit from the resources being tapped from here. They are listed in their home exchanges and someother places thereby helping to deepen those mkts. Why not here? Furthermore, it will even help in their cash call issues with the govt as they can raise money easily to execute their programmes without having to rely on govt for counterpart funding.

The issue of upstream companies listing is very complicated. U cannot by executive order force a private company to list. Remember the companies are in a Joint Venture with NNPC but they are separate legal entities.

In the JV partnerships govt holds between 55% to 60% of the equity. So unless the govt sells its equity to Nigerians u cannot have the participation of Nigerians.

On cash call there will always be problems because the Nigerian govt consistently fails to provide funding for its share which in the JV's is bw 55% and 60% which is significant. Unless the govt sells its equity, its must pay its share. So problem of cash call will continue.

For ur info in the PSC's (production sharing contracts) u do not hear of cash call problems because NNPC is not a partner. eg the field where Bonga is. U have Shell, total etc all paying their share of expenses without a fuss.

The way the govt starves the oil industry for cash is unacceptable. The industry is the goose that lays the golden egg and should be funded properly.

One of the reasons why we are in darkness is because govt has refused for 3 years to pay a dime for the independent power plants being built by the oil majors.

see my article on this in my blog.

About 9 weeks ago,mobil was 188 naira,now it is 382 naira....over 100% profit in 9 weeks.

The forward PE shd be over 70.

I fear for the level of insanity in dis market.
