With flood of private placements coming out, how do we ensure the safety of our hard earned funds? What will happen to investors money invested through private placement in stock broking firms that still can't make the minimum recapitalisation hurdle set by the govt. Most of us will remember that many people lost their money to many banks (through various investment vehicles like private placements, investment funds etc) that fail to make the 25 billion recapitalisation hurdle. I know 1 or 2 people still hoping they will get their money back. There are so many stock broking firms in the system, how do we seperate ''the wheat from the chaff or the men from the boys ?''. A lot of them will soon become history or be swallowed up by stronger ones, either way their share holders will pick up the loses.
I want to appeal to every member of the forum to put their ears on ground for valuable information that will enhance our investment decisions. We don't want to invest in dead or dying companies. Please lets have more quality information, goodluck to everyone. |

in my opinion, i still need to sit with financial expert to analysed the situation in our capital market, i dnt know if it is a good or bad idea, the amount of company raising funds particularlyt through PP is alarming, to the extent that SEC had to come out with a comnuique on the matter. so i sincerely hope that in our bid to be rich, we dnt get sacrificed |

We should be very careful in the PP's that we invest in because some of them may not make the recapitalisation eventually.
The best advice is to sit with one's financial adviser to study the prospectus to authenticate the veracity of their claims, or else, some people's monies may go the way of some liquidated banks duringthe banking recapitalisation. Happy Investing!!! |

Indeed we should be careful. Otherwise if the company fails to get the N1 billion required we could be stuck. At a minimum we need the prospectus to determine the following among others:
1) The current shareholders funds of the company. If they have at least N500 million, we know chances of survival are high 2) We need to know the directors of the company. Can they easily raise the money 3) The quality of the issuing house(s) 4) Is the offer underwritten I subscribed to Globe Reinsurance private placement and they failed to be recertified by NAICOM. Only God knows when things will be resolved. For now my money is stuck. Once beaten twice shy. |

Just got a reply to my mail to golden securities, minimum subscription is 50,000 units. Runs from 3rd March to 24th April, what a long period. Could allow for oversubscription. Since we are yet to see the prospectus, its hard to say how good this offer is....we'll still wait for that.
