Default Elim Microfinance Bank to raise capital base to N500 million

ELIM Microfinance Bank Limited is to raise its capital base to N500 million from N65 million through private placement before the end of the year.

The Head of Credit and Marketing of the bank, Mr. Seyi Akinfala, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recently in Lagos that the proceeds would be used to finance the bank's expansion programme in rural areas.

Akinfala said that the bank would soon embark on graduate empowerment scheme.

According to him, the bank intended to assist unemployed graduates by collaborating with the Lagos State government, the NYSC and some university authorities in the execution of its empowerment scheme.

He said that the bank's management was particularly pleased with the manner its customers were repaying their loans and expressed delight on the impact of microfinance banks in the country.

He added that the micro-finance sector of the economy had helped in employment generation and the empowerment of the less privileged in the country.
