Default NSE Technical Review as at June 1, 2009

The Nigerian All share index accelerates toward its year start value of 31,357.24 as the YTD stands at meager negative 5.51%. The YTD stood at negative 37.03% as at March 26, 2009. The market has since made an impressive 55.25% rebound off its year low of 19,803.60 with N2.52tr/US$17.29bn recovery in market capitalization. Remarkably; the marketís all time high of 66,731.20 was recorded on March 27, 2008: this is exactly a year span from crest to trough! There definitely exists opportunities for appreciable return on investments in the Nigerian market judging by the depth (negative 70.16%) by which the market was compressed.

See attached for graphic details.

Thanks 4 the chart.

Indeed the possibility of making further gains is very possible. However, we should not expect to climb back to 66,371 (which is the actual peak) anytime soon. It is highly unlikely that some stocks will return to their peak values anytime soon. Furthermore, a return back to 66,371 represents 135.6% rise from today's level that is a huge ask even within the next one year.

Anyway, stranger things have happenned on the NSE. So i wont be entirely shocked if by some miracle, the Index moves up to 66k+ b4 the end of this year.

Abeg, if we have indicator that can tell us in advance when SLS will talk or when OLOLO will enter the market.....One will bring the bears, the other will bring the bulls...so we know when to buy and when to sell...

What if Ololo wants to sell off to pay debt? We need to add Hispy99 into the mix to let us know what his broker is up to before moving in...
