I can assuredly recommend mine to you. They are Afrinvest West Africa Ltd. They are located in the same building with the notorious Cash Craft-11th/12th Floor Foreshore Towers,Ikoyi.

They are quite efficient, and highly recommended.Their website is
Afrinvest (West Africa) Limited

I think Afrinvest would ask for >100k
Most of the bigger firms (Afrinvest, BGL, ZSL etc.) had been on 1m for some time.
The middle class players are now pushing for 250k minimum.

In my experience if one had bought shares some time back taking these certificates and some amount below the 250k/1m could be accepted.

They must have shifted their goal post forward. I opened my CSCS a/c with them a couple of years ago online from UK and sent my share certificates to them for verification which were around N100,000 in value by then.I guess they consider themselves to be big players in the Capital market nowadays. The government should start fixing an acceptable minimum limit for opening CSCS accounts with Stock Broking frims, they should be easily accessible to the populace if they want to encourage investors to dematerialise their share certificates . It shouldnt be an economic class affair.

Government ke
It boils down to the consumer if we all thought their services are not worth the 3.5M then we would just not use them.. Recall IBTC asking for like 5M.

Thanks Wanaj0 for confirming the rates 1M seems to be nothing nowadays in my dear country..

I think what londoncool means is that with such a high minimum, the bulk of the populace will not be able to participate. I don't think Govt should interfere either. What they need in the entire sector is consolidation, like in the banking sector. By so doing, customer service will improve, minimum opening will come down and they'll be more responsive. It all depends on how stiff the competition is. I remember what account opening was like in Zenith

I know stock brokers that still accept ten thousand to open accounts, only problem will be their service. The sector is already open as it is and doesnt need any govt help. (We know how much they love us in the first place)

When I went to IBTC and they told me its 10 million, I wondered what more value they can add than those that collect lower. Needless to say that I refused, this was a new investor testing the waters and they say I will need that huge amount to try my hands in investing?

I urge the small investor to shop around, you could still find a small but competent broker.

It all depends on your definition of efficiency,How long does it take your order to be executed by your stockbrokers,I place a buy/sell order with my stockbrokers on Monday Morning and before it's executed it could be wednesday or thursday or even worse..to me that's not efficiency..so it puts in a position that I have to time rightly. How long does it take for your stockbroker to execute your orders? Maybe i could join you over there

And one more thing, this SB that require above 1M to open an acct, whats special abt them? Do you place a buy/sell order with them and it's executed in less than 24hours?

i think execution of orders is more market demand and supply driven than which broker you use, if you want to buy a stock on bid, you'll probably have to wait
