it is better to follow Billions advice, request for a change of account officer but better still switch to the second firm and develop a good relationship with that account officer who goes out of his way to sort you out. Though we need this stock broking firms, but the most important point is your account officer. My stockbrokers online service is as good as dead but my account officer takes care of me.

I do not in any circumstance's expect to chase after an account officer of mine be it in the bank or otherwise. These guys are handling my cash period so they take my calls or I walk.

I would sugest you resolve the issue of monies paid into their account then switch brokers as soon as.
We Nigerians have got to learn to walk rather than get emotional.

hello all.

am quite new on the forum though i have been following the site for some time now...
As a matter of fact i have decided to deal with stockbroking firms that are affiliated with banks cos of my brothers experience in empire securities where he was given dud cheques on several occassions.

Presently i use Fidelity Union securities from my base in the Uk.. actually am too much an online person cos i prefer putting a face to all my transaction so i deal with a guy there who i would say has been quite lovely and nice to work with... The good thing abt him is that he makes efforts to get to me on why my orders cannot be executed, all my certs i gave to them were also verified in record time... If anyone is interested i would give the person the guy's personal details so that he could handle ur transactions too.

I have the same exact scenario with FUSL and I trade out of Philadelphia, USA. My rep in Lagos calls me regularly to update and verify transactions and answers her emails so promptly I wonder if she sleeps sometimes. Her name is Peggy Chibundu and she makes that company look better than I really think they seem. Their online presence leaves a lot to be desired though, but I think they will go places with staff like her.

Alliance Capital under Lock and Key
Posted Friday, October 10, 2008

PETER OBIORA

Proshare NI

October 09, 2008 at 16:43 GMT

Alliance Capital Management Company Limited, Member of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) may now be under lock and key as the company remain deserted.

As a follow up to earlier reports on Alliance Capital, Proshare NI today paid a visit to its 13th Floor, New Africa House Head Office; located at 31 Marina Street in Lagos and the place remained under lock and key.

Proshare NI sought to clarify the true position as regards the operations of the company, when it contacted by phone a source close to it at Alliance Capital who works in the Operations Department.

The source affirmed that the company has moved its trading booth to its Victoria Island office due to power problems it is encountering at the 13th Floor of New Africa House in Marina where its Head Office is currently situated.

“You would have met one Pa Effiong, he is our Dispatch Rider in the office, he is always around” the source said.

However, as at the time Proshare NI visited the Alliance Capital office, no Pa Effiong was seen as the place was securely locked.

As at the time of filling in this report, Proshare NI could not confirm if Alliance Capital has an office located in Victoria Island area of Lagos as the source has affirmed.

The source also confirmed to Proshare NI that he is to visit “Progenics” in Ikeja area of Lagos for the installation of Alliance Capital trading machine.

This is coming on the heels of earlier complaints from investors as regards the company’s operations and investments made through Alliance Capital.

Apart from the above, investors have also written a petition on the company to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).

As earlier reported by Proshare NI, a petition against Edward Diete-Koiki, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of Alliance Capital dated July 29, 2008 by A.J. Sule Esquire and Solicitor to the petitioner; which has been sent to the NSE.

The company was said to have collected from one Prince Oyerinde Adewale Atanda several sums of money amounting to over N1.076 million for the purchase of units of Access Bank Plc shares Public Offer (PO) 2007, Dangote Flour Mills Plc 2007 PO. And First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and Fidelity Bank Plc 2007 offers.

Atanda requested that Alliance Capital pay the sum of N1, 076,583.03 million in terms of un-allotted Dangote Flour Mills return money, un-purchased FCMB and Fidelity Bank 2007 offers and anticipated income by way of profit on FCMB and Fidelity Bank offers.

However, as at the time of filling in this report, Proshare NI could not clarify the current state of affairs as regards the Alliance Capital saga.

Investors renew call on Alliance Capital
Posted Tuesday, December 2, 2008

-As NSE remain mute

PETER OBIORA

Proshare NI

December 02, 2008 at 18:31 GMT

Investors who had their portfolios handled by Alliance Capital Management Company Limited, Member of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) have renewed calls on the operations of the stockbroking firm.

Dayo Azeez, an investor from Ibadan Nigeria, inundated the mail box of Proshare NI with a mail which read thus: “I would like to use your medium to bring to the fore the issue once treated concerning the operations of Alliance Capital a member of the stock exchange.

I unfortunately happen to be one of there clients in there Ibadan branch office, on making several attempts to reach the Ibadan manager to find out what is happening failed, I checked up on the Lagos Main branch only to find it deserted and under lock and key!

My entire portfolios are handled by this company and now I don’t have the slightest clue were to find any of the company officers to try and retrieve my portfolio to another firm.

I am not alone in this predicament; we solicit the help of Proshare in assisting us in finding out how we can regain control of our accounts with the company. Thank you for the wonderful job of keeping investors enlightened” the mail stated.

Another mail from Babatunde Ade read thus: “Please, what is going on with Alliance Capital? I requested purchase of some shares worth about N50, 000 from them in August but it has not been bought.

Have they gone under? And how can I take steps to recover my money?”

Prior to this time, Proshare NI has reported on the activities of Alliance Capital and the several petitions written by clients Lawyers to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) against the company.

As at the time of filling in this report, Proshare NI could not clarify the true status of Alliance Capital as it is yet to get the NSE to respond to the allegations and petitions levelled against the firm.

About two months ago, Proshare NI visited the company’s 13th Floor, New Africa House Head Office; located at 31 Marina Street in Lagos Nigeria and found the place under lock and key; as the company remained deserted.

Also as at the time of filling in this report, Proshare NI had sought once again to clarify the situation via phone with Edward Diete-Koiki, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of Alliance Capital, but all to no avail; as he wouldn’t pick his calls.

This is coming on the heels of earlier complaints from investors as regards the company’s operations and investments made through Alliance Capital.

Bros, Thanks for the information. I actually went to their website and sent a feedback/information to them and also sent an email to their contact email address but there was no response from anybody. I did the same to FSDH because i get their updates everyday but there was also no response. When i could no longer wait further, I did the same thing to BGL Securities and they promptly responded. Luckily for me, the amount demanded by them for opening a Stock Broking account is within my range. So, i decided to go with them.

Once again, thank you for your concern.

- Involve in N1.106 million return money fraud

Zenith Registrars Limited and PSL Limited, Member of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has eroded investors’ confidence over the involvement of the two companies in a N1, 106,721.33 return money fraud. This was contained in three documents made available to Proshare NI in Lagos Nigeria.

The amount was part of the return money due to one Ebulue Kamsy on the Zenith Bank Plc 2007 Public Offer (PO).

The three documents made available to Proshare NI include a written letter on illegal claiming of return money by PSL, Oceanic Bank International Plc debit advice and Zenith Registrars return warrant number 003005014465.

The letter reads thus: “I subscribed for 50,000 units of Zenith Bank Public Offer 2007 for my son, Kamsy Ebulue through Deep Trust Investment Limited.

After about 10 months of the offer, I confirmed that it was oversubscribed. On visiting Zenith Registrars, I followed all procedures to collect the return money- N1, 106,721.33 on warrant No. 003005014465.

The warrant was presented to Oceanic Bank for clearance, but the cheque was returned. It was stated that the cheque was a duplicate; meaning that the same cheque had earlier been cleared.

On further enquiry, it was revealed that PSL had earlier collected the warrant and cashed the money through Skye Bank Plc account.

Zenith Registrars seems to be interested in the case. We can work close to unravel the mystery” the letter affirmed.

A duplicate of the Debit Advice from Oceanic Bank was mailed to Ebulue on October 24, 2008, with Account Number 0391701000108, debiting the account for return cheque of N1, 106,721.33 from Zenith Bank.

The Debit Advice showed that the cheque was returned on reasons of being a duplicate. And the cheque was ZIB number 189934 with the amount as N1, 106,721.33. However, the sum of N500.00 was charged as service charges.

It is not still clear the reason Zenith Registrars would give out return money warrant to PSL, while the offer was bought through Deep Trust

As at the time of filling in this report, Proshare NI had made effort to contact officials of, Deep Trust, Zenith Registrars and PSL to clarify the issue; but was not successful.

Zenith Bank December 2007 sought to raise N130 billion through a hybrid offer of offer for subscription of 1.763, 000, 000 Ordinary Shares of 50 kobo each at N38.90 and a Rights Issue of 1,654,557,911 units at N36.90 per share respectively.

This is one of the reasons for consolidation, to weed out miscreants pretending to be business people.
