some things i have learnt:
i spend about 1hr or more each day on this forum and it is imperative for me to know what i have come to know as per investing in stocks since i joined SMN over 2month or so ago. there are about
six things i' ve identified.
1.
Give Back.
this site is replete with snr members and others who have chosing to give freely. imagine if KOD is miserly with his tips, Zain with her analysis, and c kenneth keeping his contrarian opinion to himself, and all others on this site not putting in? wow! perhaps many portfolio will be in tatters or atleast the guy
twenty percent would have changed is name to
one percent!
what goes around comes around. i can only sincerely pray that all snr members' portfolio on this site
appreciate by leaps and bounds. i pray their altruistic contributions be rewarded in many other ways too.
give. either of your time, money or yourself.
2.
trade! trade! trade!!!
making money (on
nse) is like going to lagos island from ikeja via ikorodu road on a monday morning. waking up early, and the type of car you drive is not the only factor that determine your getting there on time. granted you will be there on time if you hit the road by 4am. but most importantly you have to overtake(carefully of course!!!) others on that road. there are too many bystanders on that road just like thare are lots of
greater fool on the market cycle in cycle out. this does not mean u shouldn't also invest for the longterm. but u gotta trade!
3.
buy right.
i use to buy stock every now and then, (i had read a beginners book on
cost averaging). now i know u really had to bid your time. i still can't remember what i was doing when there was a bargain awhile ago. profiting in this market is also about having funds (BBHS) at the right time. it may not be there if u don't plan 4 it to be there o.
4.
protect yourself.
don't joke. the market is not father xmas. and not for kids really. protect yourself in every way possible. good portfolio balance etc. one thing i really learnt is that you have to put price and date limits on your orders. there are others as well. but those are minimum. unless u are desperate.
5.
keep winners. cut losers.
i keep doing the opposite.coming of age now though. GOD help me!!
lastly,
6.
Do your Research.
Easier said than done. truthfully
i have not improved much in this area. which is painful really. it's also why am writing in this thread...
a)
how can SMN evaluate itself, viz service provided here. how can it monitors its' performance and its' impact?? bright ideas anyone?
b)
can SMN be a one stop centre for NSE info-related services?? after spending about 1hr here daily, its painful to have to keeping surfing for tips here and there. for investment purposes those time could just have been wasted. well, i just used a web crawler to mirror entire TRW. hopefully i can study it later.
i have divided services i currently enjoy at SMN into 3 areas
1.
Financial tips: SMN excel here, i will willing give 95%, though i must say KOD is getting too cryptic!!
2.
Resources: resources and data are painfully not readily available. some members have said this may confuse beginners into making bad decisions. hnm. this is indirect censorship!! pls provide it and let everyone use it as he or she likes. allow me to say there's
little or no censorship on this site.my honest opinion. so i wil give a borderline 50%
3.
Advocacy: not much is apparent in this area!! a low 20% or so.
which of this service will i be willing to pay for??
i may not want to pay as in month in month out (remember, i be beginner!), but i could donate now and then. that means yearly or so really.lol. so if it's okay with the site ethos pls, put that little button that says "donate".
on a final funny note, there this "signature" i really don't understand.
"The minute you stop having fun investing stop investing . . . . . ME"
i have tried to have fun investing really. it's just that every time i try to smile, the market
sneezes, and my smiles turns out to be more of a grimace!!! oga NOSA2, abeg how
U dey do am??
