Thank you my brother. I visited Zenith Registras this morning with my letter and CSCS statement. They promised to credit my CSCS account in two weeks. I am waiting.

Will all banks ever be like GT Bank?

Default Re: Zenith Bank

"Find attached summary of Zenith Bank’s audited group financials for the period ended 31st December 2009. The result is for a 15month period.

Clarifications from the Management

Corporate Bonds: The Company would not be looking at raising a corporate bond during the quarter since they could source for cheaper funds from deposits. They would be taking advantage of the slump in rates to attract cheaper funds

Loan Loss Provisions: The Company made provision of N39.8b for the 15 months period. There was an additional N7b provisions to the N32b that was accounted for in September 09.

Tax: The company projects taxation of N14b for the 15month period, this is however a sharp contrast from the N4b that was reflected for a 15month period ending September 2008. The management of the company explained that the difference is accounted for by

i. Change in accounting Period
ii. Using a 30% payout of last year’s PAT

Customer Deposits: A deliberate strategy of the bank was to slow the pace of attracting deposit, during the last quarter of the year; this helped in keeping their cost of fund low.

Bonus Issue: There were no firm explanations to the reason why the bank is giving a bonus share of 1 for 4.

Bank’s Outlook for 2010
1. Concentrate on non interest bearing deposits
2. Concentrate on fee based transactions
3. Reduce NPL from 6 to 2%
4. Aggressive loan recovery
5. Cost to income ratio would be kept moderate
6. Cautious in regional expansion
7. Increase earnings from other sectors and subsidiaries"

bros, i no know o, but this is worrying to me. Even Citigroup has only 28B shares outstanding. After Citi, GE is next with 10B shares. The way our banks are going, several of them will have 50B shares in the next 3 years

Zenith has no integrity when it comes to their obligations to shareholders. It is only in 9ja that an aberration is seen as business as usual. Why should you be physically visiting Registrar before you get credited. Why CSCS then in the 1st place. Mid year bonus still hanging in the air and another bonus declared again.

That was one of the reason I was bemused when I saw the sudden volume of bid for the stock after the declared the bogus corporate actions that investors will not get till 2013.

Please what is the mark down price for this stock? I took a deadly investment risk on this stock,i taught it would rise a little before today so that i can sell off but it was a big NO.I was never intrested in their bonus or divended.but i hope it rises back to N19 so i can get out.

The mark down price will depend on the closing price the day before mark down.
