Zenith Bank Plc. has notified The Exchange that the Board of Directors of the Bank is scheduled to meet on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 10.00 a.m. to deliberate on the Audited Financial Statements of the Bank for the year ended December 31, 2011. The Board will at the meeting consider amongst other things, the proposal for recommendation of dividend for shareholders approval at its’ next Annual General Meeting.

Zenith Bank Plc Rescheduled Board Meeting; 2011 FYE Statement tops agenda

The Bank has notified The Exchange that its Board of Directors meeting which was earlier scheduled to hold on Friday 27, 2012, has been rescheduled to hold on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 10. 00 a.m. prompt.

The venue of the meeting remains at the Board Room, Zenith Height, Plot 87, Ajose Adeogun Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

At the meeting the Directors will deliberate on the Bank’s Audited Financial Statements, which include amongst others, a proposal for the recommendation of dividend for shareholders’ approval at its next Annual General Meeting.

They have changed the date to next week Tuesday (6/3). And Oscar is talking about building a world class exchange when common 'house keeping' issues linger.

The price of Zenith is now very close to that of GTB. Any gist on likely dividend comparison for the two please?

Zenith bank has never gone below a certain pay out ratio, even when all hell was let loose on the banks.

If it is about "GIST" then I have gist about dividend being proposed by GTbank, my broker told me they are proposing 0.85k, as per zenith bank I don't have any gist

Bonus shares have there uses - In my case when I bought FBN @ N33, and then watched with dread as losses arrived.

Bonuses Shares & dividend assisted me in nearly doubling my holdings, beacuse all I did was plough it back into FBN..........I can now sell at N20, if FBN hits the price....

Meaning I have got back my original investment plus made a tiny profit

If they hadn't given any bonus you'd still be making the same profit you're making

Hmmm..........I cannot see that.....Pls explain unless you mean through Dividend

But I would have to use my own money for that to work..........What I am gaining now with FBN I have not spent 1Kobo of my own money

look at it. Each time you're given bonus the price is corrected such that the value of your equity remain the same. Now without those bonus those stock would probably not be selling at this price. By giving bonus the outstanding share is increase and so there is more share to be traded which can move the price anyhow. Except companies that have small outstanding shares a company does you no good giving you bonus. To me giving bonus has make it difficult for me to compare the earning per share over financial years..

But for me Bonus Shares - Consoled me for my losses and assisted me in my current gains

I suppose it fitted nicely into the sitaution which I found myself

Exactly! I've long abandoned trying to explain this to people after all it's not in my interest to have a market full of intelligent investors. So to those who think bonus creates wealth for them I'd say "if it ain't broke don't fix it" but if you see bonus issues for what they truly are, then kudos to you.

I understand what you re saying, but atimes after marking down a stock for bonus and dividend, it goes back to its price range b4 the bonus, and probably it might not have passed that same price range if there was no bonus. So in this case however is holding the stock has gained.
