I think there is a lot of rumour about banks willing to access the capital market for funds, but untill you see an announcement in the dailies or you physically see a subsciption form, it is just what it is - mere rumour.

My stockbroker informs me that Zenith bank is about to peak. The data I have gathered shows that since 2004 zenith prices have constantly risen from about N12 to present N30+. Is there a time frame for stocks to peak? Do stocks take up to 3 years before they peak?
The stock market supposedly goes up and down, do certain stocks maintain their prices despite what is happening in the market? eg nestle: does it remain in the N200 price braket? Does it/has it/will it ever "peak"? Do I need to factor this into my intentions to trade, if peaking does exist? Is there a way to analyse when/if a stock will peak? |

I have heard some technical analysts talk about price peak of stocks, but personally I think the market itself has a mind of its own. Predictions by stockbrokers and analysts are often made to look ridiculous by unexpected happenings in the trading floor.

I bought Zenith during the last IPO at N16.90. It has basically doubled. When would be the right time to sell? Does anyone see it going higher or lower?
Paragon what is your take on this issue? All comers welcome. |

C kenneths,
I am inclined to agree with you, but as I am new to all this I am trying to make sense of all this info flying around. Hopefully I'll get some guidance and then go on to make informed decisions. |

From my little calculation, it is clear that Zenith bank since they went public in 2004 had never given bonus shares to their shareholders despite their high level of profitability over the past three years. They are a sure candidate for bonus share this year ending June 2007, and what this means is that if it is ever confirmed that they will give bonus, their current price may likely double to around 60 naira plus.
So Stockbear, hold on to zenith bank, its definitely looking beautiful at the moment. |

More reason to buy into the Zenith dream. As they expand their horizons they expand their income/profit base. For one, many Nigerians in the UK will find it easier to open an account with them without having to travel back home. I give them a big thumbs up.

News of the opening of the the UK branch of Zenith has propelled buying/enhancing of the Zenith stock. Those who bought into the last public offer at N16.90 have seen the shares leap from last year’s PO price to N40.
This represents a total gain of N23 per share or 136 per cent. Quote:

There is strong indication that the Zenith stock will make a lot of people "millionaires" by the time the stock peaks and investors cash in their shares.
Ordinarily since the stock has doubled in price, those who bought 30,000 units are already millionaires. Initial cost: N507,000.00 Capital Appreciation since doubled price: N1,014'000.00. Many people are regretting not buying much more units of zenith bank when it went for offer at 16.90 or even when it sold for 10.90 in 2004.
I was branded a zenith paid promoter then, friends asked me what I saw in the offer to make me believe so much in the bank. Well, I told them it's just their customer service. A respected investment banker friend of mine insisted that the bank is a front for money launderers, fraudsters, 419ers corrupt gov. officials. According to him I should not have anything to do with the bank, he wanted me instead to buy the upcoming Union bank offer at that time which was selling for 20.00 then, no need for comparisons now. Investments are like taking risks, you never know what will happen untill some time after you have given out your money, thank God we were right this time around. We are sitting back to enjoy the fruits of our risk. |
